INCOMING 8TH GRADERS

Transitioning to high school is a big step for both students and parents, often bringing a mix of excitement and apprehension. You might be feeling a little anxious about your child navigating a new, larger environment with more independence, and that's completely normal. Rest assured, our administration and staff are deeply committed to providing a nurturing and supportive atmosphere. We understand that your child's well-being is paramount, and we will look after them with the same dedication and personalized care that you would, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and ready to thrive academically and socially in this new chapter.

EIGHTH GRADE (NEXT STEPS) HIGH SCHOOL TOUR

Navigating Transitions: Helping Eighth-Graders Prepare for Life at Butler County High School

Bridging the gap between middle and high school can be a crucial step in preparing students for success.
This year, we made significant changes to address this transition—mainly based on feedback from staff, students, and families who expressed the desire for more in-depth experiences during this pivotal period.

CONNECTING COURSES TO CAREERS

Based on our Strategic Framework's emphasis on making students "College and Career Ready," we wanted to illustrate how various careers tie to specific courses offered at ATC (Area Technology Center) as well as in the High School. These areas range from culinary arts, both in the classroom and the Cooking lab to Automotive Repair classes at the ATC. In previous years, we conducted brief presentations and class sign-ups at the middle school. We are now annually bringing 8th graders to BCHS for a full-day immersive experience. Students who missed this experience are strongly encouraged to attend the Freshman Jumpstart event in early August.
